Ephesians 3:20-21 "Now to Him who is able to do EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY ABOVE all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen."

5/24/11 - 2nd Biopsy

Good Afternoon Everyone -
I wanted to send out an update on Jason's open biopsy today to keep you all in the loop.  Jason's surgery was moved up to 7:30am today, so we we had quite the early morning : )  The Praise is that we didn't have to deal with traffic going to and from the hospital and Jas was our Dr's first patient of the day!

In the parking lot of the hospital this morning, Jason handed me a pen and said, "Are you ready?"  Honestly, I was so tired from getting up at 4am, I had no idea where he was going with it.  LOL.  He said, I know which verse I am going to stand by for the rest of this haul and had me write the following on his tumor Romans 8:18  "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."  What a good one!
The minute that our Dr. came in this morning, man we just felt blanketed with a peace that passes all understanding yet again!  And, what an outpouring of love & encouragement from you all!  Between last night, on our way to the hospital, in pre-op and in recovery I was able to pull up your emails, texts, voice mails and relay them to Jason so he could feel how loved he was and how we had a team of prayer warriors on his behalf : )  THANK YOU!!!
So our Dr. marked Jason's tumor in pre-op and of course saw the Romans 8:18 on there.  He asked, "What is that?"  Jason replied with, "Romans 8:18."  The Dr. said, "Ahhhhh, even better!" Clearly he remembered that Jason had scripture on his tumor previously!  After he walked us through what to expect, he finished by saying, "We'll be praying for the best!"  What a blessing for our Dr. to be praying for Jas too!
While the surgery was supposed to be no more than an hour, it ended up being about 1 hour and 45 minutes.  Wheew!  When the Dr. came to get me in the waiting room, he pulled me off to a side room to tell me his thoughts.  He started off by sharing that in his entire career, this was the largest sample/biopsy that he's ever had to take on anyone.  He explained that the tumor is about 99% dead tissue and in order to get a good biopsy, it needs to be live tissue.  To clarify, it's not good news AND it's not bad news that the tumor is this high of a percentage of dead tissue.  It's just a fact, which makes it more difficult when doing a biopsy.  With that being said, the pathologist at the surgery was unable to determine whether the tumor is cancerous or not.  Our Dr. shared that he is 98% sure that it's a myxoid liposarcoma, however there still is a chance he could be wrong. (Have I told you how much we love this Dr?)  Our Dr. made the call to the Radiologist, who we have an appt with tomorrow,  to ensure that they still wanted to see us without a 100% confirmation of what the tumor is.  They do!  So, we will at least know more of a gameplan of what will happen if and when we find out what this tumor is.  With that being said, we have no idea how long it will be until we find out the results from today's surgery.  So, more time to pray and draw near to Christ!
If you could please join us in praying for the prayer requests below we would greatly appreciate it!
1. If it is God's will, that the tumor be benign. (Even though everyone seems to think that it's cancer, it would be awesome for them to be wrong!)
2. For a quick recovery from Jason's surgery today.
3. For our Dr. to be able to communicate to us the results of the biopsy quickly.
3. For God to prepare our hearts for the news we will be delivered.  While we know it's very likely that it will be cancer, it still tends to take your breath away when you hear the word.
3. For God to open our eyes to see who he wants us to be witnessing to through this process to further his kindgom, and to give us the boldness and wisdom to do so.
4. To be blanketed with God's peace & strength.  A huge praise goes out, as we have absolutely felt God's presence with us and we know only he can provide peace and strength during times like these!
Another cool thing to share, after the Dr. and I were done talking about Jason he asked me how my friend Kat was doing.  What a great heart this Dr. has!  Truly Kat has impacted him also : )  At that same moment, Kat called my cell phone, as she was headed to an appointment nearby for an update on how things are progressing with her cancer.  Very cool!  God's timing is so neat isn't it?  He was so intentional with bringing our two families together to help support one another through.
Well, I wanted to end with such a sweet message a dear friend of ours sent today that just brings a smile to our face!  It read as follows, "We'll keep praying with and for you.  Please know that you are not waiting alone.  We're waiting with you.  God's timing builds bonds, strengthens relationship and results in greater endurance and character.  He is strengthening the church family muscle.  He must have something really big planned for our future!"
We Love You and Thank You For All of Your Prayers, Support, Encouragement & Love!  We have been so blessed to have you all in our lives!
Love,
Jas & Meg
